SHANA DARNELL
Since 2004, I have served as a photo editor/content manager at Turner Broadcasting, covering hundreds of projects for CNN, HLN, The Atlanta Braves, PGA on TNT, NBA on TNT and Turner South. In my role at Turner, I was essentially an account executive/brand ambassador managing photography for CNN and HLN used for all levels of promotion, advertising, digital platforms and on air programming.
Possessing a total of 25 years of experience in the communication arts with several of the industry's most innovative media companies. I have been privileged to work on some of the most important journalistic endeavors of our time. Throughout my career, I have managed photography projects including the events of September 11th, four Presidential Elections, Hurricane Katrina, the Arab Spring, the Royal Wedding, and other breaking news events. I most recently served as a Senior Editor on the CNN Digital team supporting editorial and social initiatives.
I earned my BFA in Photography from the Atlanta College of Art, now known as SCAD.
In 1998, I moved to Paris, where I worked in the fashion photography industry, as a photographer, editor and first assistant to a celebrity photographer with Sygma Agency.
In 2000, I moved to New York where I worked at Corbis, Gamma Presse, and Conde Nast Publications as a retoucher, photo editor and specialized in photo research and licensing.
My contributions to CNN have been recognized by Communication Arts, where I served as a judge for their 2012 Photography Competition as well as recognition in connection with five Peabody Awards.
